Students who are accepted to the ASU Honors Programs automatically receive an additional $3,000 annual scholarship to be added to their Distinguished Scholarship award. Students have the potential to earn up to $13,000 annually ($52,000 over four years), No application is necessary to receive the Distinguished Scholarship; however, students do have to apply and be accepted into the Honors Program. The $2,500 annual scholarship was created to call attention to the ASU AFROTC Detachment 847 and attract highly qualified students to participate in Air Force officer leadership training without incurring a military commitment. At least one scholarship is awarded per year to a highly qualified, full-time Angelo State ROTC cadet with preference given to applicants who graduated from San Angelo Lake View High School and participated in the Lake View Junior ROTC program for a minimum of two years. This scholarship may be awarded multiple times to the same student. The scholarship recipient must be deserving and have a strong desire to succeed.

Candidates must demonstrate high ethical standards as determined by the Accounting Department or an equivalent Scholarship Committee. The recipient should also exhibit strong academic performance and a sincere commitment to completing the requirements for a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a major in Accounting, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Accounting, or a Master of Professional Accountancy from ASU.
